The 20th century and the Bianchedi Bettoli – Vallunga collection

These two rooms are devoted chiefly to the collection that Augusto Vallunga (1938 – 2010) left to the Pinacoteca Comunale di Faenza in his will. The bequest, implemented by his wife Maria Grazia Bianchedi Bettoli, consisted of the donation of forty-five works of art representing the main trends in 20th century Italian art.
The first room houses paintings dating from the 1920s to the mid-1950s, with masterpieces by De Chirico, Carrà, Savinio, Sironi and Morandi.
The second, devoted to the second half of the 20th century, hosts works by such celebrated artists as Casorati, Campigli, Migneco, Gentilini, Morlotti and Vacchi which, with their diverse characteristics and their effort to tailor their style to the manner of the period, reflect the donor’s tastes even in his choice of earlier works, thus closing an ideal circle made of form and content. The display includes some works from the Pinacoteca’s historic collection, developing a dialogue with the Bianchidi Bettoli-Vallunga paintings that highlights the merits of all.

These two rooms were restored in 2024 thanks to the Bucci Industries Group, with a contribution from the Regione Emilia-Romagna
