Workshop of Luigi Valadier, Wooden altar urn or luna with garlands supported above by two oil lamps; ornamental plant motifs; a cherub bottom centre; above centre, the XP (Chi Rho) symbol in a laural wreath; on a grey marble base, c. 1765-70, graphite, pen, grey ink, brown, red and grey wash on paper, 770 x 102 mm.; numbered upper right: “90”. There exists another presentation drawing of the same item, with a number of variants, which was part of the substantial collection from the Valadier workshop that belonged to the Artemis Group and was shown in London in 1991 (Valadier 1991, p. 74, n. 42).
